NEW FASHION FAVES: Phillip Lim & Jason Wu

I LOVE the beautiful minimal and feminine designs by Phillip Lim & Jason Wu. And can imagine myself wearing their fabulous clothes – a girl can dream, right?!…I hope you also enjoy viewing their stunning designs!

Phillip Lim was born in Thailand and later escaped the Cambodia’s civil war by traveling to Southern California. Lim never fantasize to become a designer, but after a weekend job in Barneys, Beverly Hills he had what he called a career epiphany. He got an internship with Katayone Adeli and his natural talent shined so much, that he got a position inside her design team. When Adeli relocated to New York, Lim stayed in LA and decided to launch his own brand with his friend Wen Zhou.

In 2005, he debuted 3.1 Phillip Lim and achieved instant commercial and critical success. After glowing in NY fashion Week Fall 05, Lim won several international prizes, like the 2007 Swarovski Award of Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. His style is defined as minimal and feminine and he defines that his priority in design is “street elegance”.

In 2007, Lim opened his first store, in SoHo, NY and now his brand is available in 50 different countries and 400 boutiques.

Jason Wu was born in Taiwan and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at age nine where he later attended Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts and Loomis Chaffee, in Connecticut. He learned how to sew by designing and sewing for dolls, and went on to study sculpture in Tokyo. Wu continued this career path at sixteen by learning to create freelance doll clothing designs for toy company Integrity Toys under the lines “Jason Wu dolls” and later “Fashion Royalty”. The following year, he was named creative director of Integrity Toys. He decided to become a fashion designer while spending his senior year of high school in Rennes  before graduating from The Loomis Chaffee School in 2001, and studied at the Parsons The New School for Design at The New School. He later interned with Narciso Rodriguez.

Have a GREAT day!
